Signed Art
The value of Signed Art depends on the artist who has produced it. Signed Art created by a well known artist will command a higher price than Signed Art which is created by an unknown artist. However, buying Signed Art from an unknown artist can turn out to be the better investment for the informed buyer. Whether buying on the internet or from a gallery, it is always advisable to buy from a reputable source. There are many fakes or forgeries in circulation.
Another thing to consider is that Signed Art, or Limited Edition Art, is much more common now. With ink-jet technology it has become very easy for artists to print a single copy and sign it as 1/500 with minor outlay. And who is to know if an artist were to have a single copy of a Signed Art print then number it 347/500 for example and put it up for sale. Buyer beware!
